Abstract

The linear economic model that dominates Indonesia has driven excessive natural resource exploitation and mounting waste accumulation, making the transition toward a circular economy both urgent and rich with sustainable entrepreneurial opportunity. This study aims to analyze how the application of circular economy principles, particularly the 5R framework (refuse, reduce, reuse, repair, recycle) which can generate innovative business opportunities, while identifying the structural and technical barriers hindering implementation in Indonesia. A qualitative approach was employed through a Systematic Literature Review following PRISMA guidelines, with thematic analysis applied to relevant national and international literature. Findings indicate that circular practices have progressed notably in the creative economy sector, particularly in upcycled fashion and waste-based product design, contributing to improved cost efficiency and business competitiveness. Nonetheless, implementation remains constrained by limited capital access, inadequate green technology infrastructure, and low market literacy. The study proposes a conceptual circular entrepreneurship model linking green innovation, business opportunity, and inclusive economic growth. These findings contribute theoretically to green entrepreneurship literature and offer practical recommendations for business actors and policymakers to accelerate a sustainable circular economy transition in Indonesia.
