Abstract

In many study programs, the submission and assignment of final project titles are still handled manually, leaving the process prone to duplicate titles, limited transparency, and decisions scattered across lecturers, laboratories, and the study program. This study aims to design a web-based information system for the submission and multi-level assignment of final project titles. The system was designed and built using the Rapid Application Development (RAD) method with the Laravel framework and a PostgreSQL database, following the stages of requirement planning, user design, rapid construction, and cutover. The resulting design accommodates five user roles (student, lecturer, head of laboratory, study program, and final project coordinator) and introduces three distinctive features: period-based scoping, confidentiality of results until the official announcement, and tiered title assignment requiring three different choices plus an optional self-proposed title. The design was validated through Black-Box testing of 22 scenarios, all declared valid (100%), indicating that the modeled business rules function as intended. As a scope limitation, the design was validated within a single study program. The design is expected to improve the efficiency, transparency, and accountability of final project title management.
