THE CRITICAL THINKING REBOOTED: EXPLORING THE IMPACT OF PEER TUTORING-BASED STUDENT WORKSHEETS ON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS' COGNITIVE SKILLS
Abstract
Masalah pada penelitian ini adalah rendahnya kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik pada pembelajaran IPAS kelas V Sekolah Dasar. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah: (1) mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan LKPD berbasis peer tutoring terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis; (2) perbedaan penerapan LKPD berbasis peer tutoring di kelas eksperimen dengan kelas non eksperimen terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis. Metode penelitian ini adalah quasi-eksperimen dengan desain penelitian non-equivalent control group. Populasi penelitian ini adalah peserta didik SD Negeri 6 Metro Barat dengan sampel kelas VA sebagai kelompok eksperimen dan kelas VB sebagai kelompok kontrol. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan purposive sampling, total sampel 40 peserta didik. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan: (1) rerata nilai posttest kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi dibandingkan kontrol, yaitu 62,95 > 56,25; (2) adanya pengaruh signifikan LKPD berbasis peer tutoring terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik dengan Fhitung > Ftabel, yaitu 4,99 > 4,41 (uji regresi linier sederhana); (3) persentase kenaikan kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik sebesar 31,1%; dan (4) adanya perbedaan signifikan kelas dengan pembelajaran menggunakan LKPD berbasis peer tutoring terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis dibanding kelas dengan pembelajaran tanpa menggunakan LKPD berbasis peer tutoring, dengan thitung > ttabel, yaitu 2.177 > 2,021 (uji-t).
